This section provides a quick overview of installing and using Personal LogDoor. For more detailed information, see the Reference section.
To install Personal LogDoor, simply drag it to the same hard drive that your personal Web server is installed on. Be sure to install the correct version, PowerPC or 68K, for your machine. You may wish to create a separate folder for Personal LogDoor, since it creates a few additional files in the folder it is run from.
To use Personal LogDoor, simply double-click it. Your personal Web server must be already installed and running. A window opens which provides access information in several ways:
In addition, you can create a summary access report with the "Write Reports" item of the "Monitor" menu. For more information on how Personal LogDoor provides information, see the Reference section.
If your personal Web server is on an AppleTalk as well as a TCP/IP network, Personal LogDoor provides the ability for you to have its name registered on the AppleTalk network, allowing other AppleTalk users to find and access your server without having to know its URL. To have Personal LogDoor automatically register your server on AppleTalk every time it is run, simply select "Register with AppleTalk" from the "Monitor" menu. See the Reference chapter for details.
